Direct Hair Implement – DHI: All You Need to Know

There are several types of treatment way for hair transplants such as follicular unit transplantation (FUT) or follicular unit extraction (FUE). FUT and FUE are the most common techniques used in hair transplant treatment. However, in recent years new techniques start to emerge in hair transplant treatment, with the development of technology. One of the new technique is the direct hair implement known as DHI.

Basically, all hair transplant treatments are done with the same method. Surgeons will take hair follicles from your healthy hair you already have on the back or side of your head and then implement the hair follicles to the recipient areas that are thinning or bald site.

Main difference between all technicniques is essentially how surgeon take all hair follicles from the donor area.

  • In the FUT technique, it is done by cutting a long and narrow strip of your scalp that usually the back of your head. Then surgeons separate individual hair follicles under a microscope. After that, they implement individual hair follicles into the recipient area.
  • In the FUE technique, it is done by taking individual hair follicles from your scalp. But in this technique, surgeons manually cut a series of canals to remove hair follicles. So, this technique depends on the surgeon’s experience.
  • On the other hand, in the DHI technique, there is a tool like a pen, and it opens canals and takes individual hair follicles by itself.

All in all, due to DHI is the most technological and new technique, it is the most expensive technique used in hair transplant treatment. The key difference between all these techniques is how surgeons remove your hair follicles from the back or side of your scalp to the thinning and balding area.
